About

Spanish Reading Club was founded, in December 2025 by Jonathan, a Spanish tutor from Ecuador now based in Tunbridge Wells, Kent (UK). After a decade of teaching Spanish to learners across the world — from GCSE and A-level students to adult learners — Jonathan noticed something consistent:

💡 Students learned faster and remembered more when they read, listened to, or watched content that presented Spanish and English side by side in an interactive fashion.

That observation became the foundation of Spanish Reading Club — a place where learners can experience Spanish through clear audio, bilingual text, and interactive practice, all in one place. The goal is simple: to help learners develop real understanding and fluency through meaningful content, not memorisation.

Jonathan & Gabriel Chávez

Jonathan Chávez is a vegan, animal lover, Spanish tutor, webmaster, and content producer. He teaches Spanish, records all stories, writes course materials, and oversees the design and functionality of his websites.

In 2015, he graduated from the State University of Guayaquil with a BSc in Marketing and Trade Negotiation, writing a dissertation on second language acquisition. At 22, while at university, he taught himself English after realizing the latest editions of his course books were not yet translated into Spanish. He can also carry out basic conversations in Italian.

Based in Tunbridge Wells, Jonathan connects learners from around the world with a teaching approach that blends clarity, structure, and creativity — helping students not just learn Spanish, but truly enjoy it.

Gabriel Chávez lives in Ecuador and is responsible for creating the study guides and printable worksheets that accompany each story. Although not a professional educator, Gabriel has a keen eye for detail and a real enthusiasm for design, e-marketing, and technology.

In his free time, he enjoys playing football, experimenting with web design, and learning about digital media and online tools. His curiosity and creative energy bring a fresh and practical perspective to the Spanish Reading Club project, helping make each learning resource clear, attractive, and enjoyable to use.

Together, Jonathan and Gabriel combine their strengths — teaching, marketing skills, storytelling on one side and creativity and design on the other — to offer a well-rounded, engaging experience for Spanish learners around the world.
